Packaging for Pet Food
Pet food requires a much higher level of protection and attention in packaging than is often assumed. The reason lies in the fact that the senses of dogs and cats—smell, taste, and even sensitivity to change—are far more developed and sophisticated than those of humans. Any alteration in texture, aroma, or scent can affect both the acceptance of food by pets and their safety.
This is why Tipoplastika offers specialized packaging solutions for all categories—from wet food and dry food to snacks, treats, and pet care products. Regardless of the type or format, packaging must meet the highest standards of protection and quality preservation.
The key requirements that modern packaging for this application must fulfill are:
- Water vapor impermeability – preserves moisture and prevents drying out or spoilage.
- Oxygen impermeability – protects against oxidation, fat spoilage, and loss of nutritional value.
- Fat and oil resistance – prevents fat migration, staining, and loss of flavor.
- Light protection – preserves color, vitamins, and aromas, especially in products rich in fats and vitamins.
- Aroma and scent retention – a key feature for pet food acceptance.
- Suitability for vacuum packaging with inert gas – adds extra protection and extends shelf life, especially for products with high biological value.
This combination of functionalities ensures that every meal and treat for your pet retains optimal freshness, aroma, and nutritional value—just as on the day of packaging. This way, both your brand’s reputation and the well-being of pets are protected.

Specifics of pet food packaging production – from material selection to optimal packaging
Specifics in packaging production
The production of pet food packaging at Tipoplastika is based on advanced technological processes, including:
Multicolor gravure and flexo printing – enables high-quality print in up to 9 colors, with matt and heat-seal varnishes, on webs up to 1020 mm wide and speeds up to 400 m/min. Provides attractive design, print durability, and clear labeling on all formats.
Automatic quality control – throughout the process, 100% inspection systems are used to monitor register, color intensity and consistency, eliminating the possibility of visual defects on the finished packaging.
Material lamination – lamination is done using polyurethane adhesives (solvent-based or solvent-free), joining layers such as paper, aluminum foil, PET and PE. Laminating is carried out on webs up to 1020 mm wide, with strict control of tension, without curling or layer damage.
PE film extrusion – three-layer extrusion on Varex lines enables the production of transparent, matt, and white films with different physical properties. The blown film is formed from LDPE, LLDPE or HDPE, with precise control of thickness and strength, up to 1600 mm width.
Layer lamination and coating – possibility of combining different materials (e.g., paper/AL/PE) or coating with polymer layers for additional protection from moisture, oxygen, and fats.
Finishing and slitting – on finishing lines, the material is precisely cut and packed into rolls or ready-made bags, tailored to client needs for automated or manual filling lines.
All processes are performed under strict quality control standards (ISO 9001, FSSC 22000), ensuring hygiene, property consistency, and long service life of packaging intended for pet food.
